3 personality traits. {blog challenge #6}

The sixth thing on the blog challenge is to write about three personality traits I'm proud of.

{it is harder to write this much about myself than I'd thought it would be}

1: I'm a total goofball. I really love to make other people laugh.  Or even just smile when they're having a bad day.  I've perfected wacky accents and silly anecdotes and self depreciating comments just for this use.  Seriously.  Also, I always read little kids books in voices.  My cousins love me for it :)

2: I love with my whole heart.  I can't help it.  If I care for you in any capacity, I will go above and beyond to make sure you know it.  I'm exquisitely loyal.  But...I'm also the kind of person who could meet Mother Theresa on a bad day and decide she's the devil.  And my first impressions of people are generally spot on, but when they're not, it takes a LONG time to reform an opinion of anyone.

3: Though I'm a worrier at heart, I am always an optimist.  I generally prepare myself for the worst, but I always expect the best.  I am happy on rainy days because it makes the plants grow.  My dad once told me {because I am the opposite of a morning person, and everyone knows it!} that if you wake up in the morning, and decide to be happy, you will be happy.  Happiness is a choice.  I choose to never stop being happy.

I have to say, I kind of agree with Loki.  Er, I mean Tom Hiddleston.

Anyway.

I definitely have to say that there aren't many activities or things I indulge in that everyone I know doesn't know about.  I kind of talk a lot.  And I pretty much think everything I'm into is awesome.

But here's the list of things I'm into that other people probably wouldn't admit to.

-Everything and anything involving Harry Potter.

Oh how I miss '80's Tom Cruise.

(though Rock of Ages Tom Cruise was nice.)

When I was a little kid...

(you'll notice I've slacked a bit on that blog challenge thingy.  whoops)

(also, i'm skipping my business name.  i told you in the first post, so no need to repeat myself!)

This is supposed to be a post about my earliest childhood memory.

To be perfectly honest...

For some reason I remember next to nothing about being a little kid.

Seriously.

I have little bits and pieces of stuff, but everything's all muddled together.

I remember NOTHING about elementary school.

(well school at least, I think I remember other stuff).

But here are some things I can remember:

1: The time we started eating calf feed.

Seriously, this happened.  My grandparents used to run a dairy farm, and when I was a little kid, they still helped my uncle with the daily aspects of it.  I don't think my little brothers were born yet, so I couldn't have been more than 6, or if I was, Josh at least wasn't old enough to run around with us.  Anyway.  My younger sisters and cousin and myself used to go to the barn to "help" out with stuff.  (or, chase around the feral barn cats. whatever) I remember that we were playing the dare game, and someone broke out the double dog dare.  Turns out, calf feed tastes like strawberry poptarts.  Who knew?

2: The time I might have broken my brother's nose.

Or, the times I might have broken my brother's nose.  The accidental trip up Grandma's stairs, and the accidental knee in the face when he was chasing me and my sisters down the hallway... sorry bro.

3: The time we went to Maine.

Ok, so I was 12 when this trip happened (thus not such an early memory), but holy crow it's the most griswold best family vacation ever.  My dad had gone to a bachelor party the night before we left, and was thus in a fairly cranky (hungover, perhaps?) mood the day we left.  Also probably because he asked my mom to have us all (yeah, 5 kids and herself) ready and the camper packed by the time he was home from work, and that didn't happen.  So we finally take off, dad drives all night, and we end up crossing the border into Maine at like 3am.  Did I mention we picked up another family along the way?  The final camper count was like 11 people crammed into this RV when we settled to sleep at this rest stop.  No sooner had everyone laid down, than a security guard knocks at the door.  My father, who had probably been going on three hours of sleep the whole previous day (consider the bachelor party late night AND work AND long ass drive with 7 kids in the vehicle, plus 3 other adults),emerges from the back sleeping quarters with quite a slew of curse words on his tongue...and proceeds to call the security guard a dickhead.  The rest of the trip, though memorable, does not even begin to match the level of hilarity that my 12 year old mind gives that moment in time.

20 Facts.

Continuing with this challenge, today is for 20 facts about me.

1: I absolutely abhor being late for anything.  It seriously messes with my whole day, and I end up freaking out for the rest of the day because of the beginning of it.

2: I am the oldest of five siblings.  I have two younger sisters, and two younger brothers.

3: I proposed to my fiance.  Our proposal story is me acting spontaneously, and it worked out perfectly.

4:  I have a lot of irrational fears.  Seriously horrible phobias.  I'm a freak.

5: I have milked a cow before.  (with a milk machine. still counts.)

6: Speaking of which, I hate milk.  I'll only drink it with oreos, or on cereal.

7: I have a compulsive shopping problem.

8: I'm a Virgo.  According to The Waterboy, this means I dislike confrontations.  This is correct.

9: I have a thing for old Elvis movies.  Especially Blue Hawaii.

10: I believe Elf is more than just a Christmas movie.  Really, if you watch it, there are so many good messages that come through.  Everyone should smile more often, and treat every day like Christmas.

11:  Did I mention, Christmas is my favorite holiday?

12: My biggest celeb crush is on Sir Patrick Stewart.

13: I know all the words to all the Harry Potter films.  Also, Anchorman, Adventures in Babysitting, and the Die Hard films.  Oh, and Tommy Boy.

14:  I am slightly obsessed with The Walking Dead. Both the television series, and the comic books.

15: I completely hate the Twilight series...yet have read the books multiple times, and own all the movies.  It's a love/hate thing.  The story is so lame...but ah, that Jacob saves everything.

16:  I am a certified scuba diver (or used to be...i think that expires).  I am afraid of deep water, and am a poor swimmer.  Go figure.

17:  Autumn is my favorite season.

18: I'm pretty sure I know more about sports (all of them) than my fiance.  I'm pretty okay with that.

19:  I love the show Friends more than anyone probably should.  Though I might be tied with my sister on that...

20:  I am beyond grateful every day for my family, my friends, and my fiance.  They have helped shaped me into the person I am today.  I could not survive without their love and support.

Something a little different.

I found this blog challenge a little while ago on my bloggy friend Elyse's blog.

I liked the idea, but didn't really feel like keeping up with it.

But, I've been so busy in the last couple weeks with wedding stuff (yeah, my wedding is next May, but we found out some things that we thought we had settled...weren't so much), I haven't been blogging much.  And this is the perfect excuse to do it daily :)

So, for number one...an introduction!

Hi.  I'm Traci.
I started this blog (my third, btw) because...I felt like it.  I've always written stuff down, usually in a journal, and when I found blogging, I just started to absolutely LOVE it.
My old blogs weren't anything special - one was created specifically for my Etsy shop (and was really boring), and the other one was more like this, but the name didn't flow well.
So I became Rose & Lou.

Now, you'll notice that my name isn't Rose.  Also, my fiance's name isn't Lou.
And now you may be wondering, "well what's with Rose & Lou then??"
Rose & Lou is named after both of my grandmothers.  (My mom's mom and my dad's mom).
My mom's mom's name is Rose, my dad's mom's name was Nancy (but her middle name was Lou!).   I loved how Rose and Lou sounded together, so I decided to make it my blog name :)

I'm not so great at writing introductions...I never know what to say!

Long Weekend Love

Alright, so technically my weekend isn't over until tomorrow night.

But, it's already been filled with such awesomeness that I have to share some stuff.

...

So Friday, there was this awesome show at our Center for the Arts.

Show = Concert.

Concert = all of my friends bands.

Yeah, my friends are musicians. And they're ridiculously talented.

Bejealous.

Anywayssss....the center for the arts is now located in what used to be a church. Which I find pretty badass. 

You can't tell, but that is a stained glass window.

 And we got to see my friends play.

Yeah, it's a blurry picture, but I'm working with an old cell phone that doesn't get instagram so deal with it.

And I like to watch my fiance walk.  Because from the back you can see his elbow tats.

Part of a rattlesnake on one side, and a chaos star on the other. Goodness I love this man.

The show was amazeballs. Seriously.  My friends are ridiculously talented.

And there's even this band that my fiance's friends with, who are actually signed to a record label and just finished touring Europe. Forreal.

Hi. Welcome back.

Did your face get rocked off?  Yeah, I thought so.

Saturday was a pretty quiet day.  I was able to get the baskets I needed to finish up the prize baskets for my sister and cousin's baby showers, and I finished up all the favors as well.  Yay accomplishment!

Then we got to go to my uncle's Man Cave for a cookout.  (Man Cave = Gazebo that has a grill, oven, stove top, dishwasher, fire pit, sink, and beer on tap.)

He's pretty much the best griller I know, so I'm always a fan of his cookouts. And a huge fan of spending time with my family, who I'm lucky enough to get to work with on a daily basis...but it's much better seeing them someplace that work doesn't matter.  <3
